Causal Relationship Between Coal Consumption And Economic Growth In Turkey

Yıl 2017, Cilt: 1 Sayı: 2, 78 - 83, 07.02.2018

Öz

Coal constitutes an important factor for
the Turkey’s
economic growth. In this
paper an attempt is made to
examine the
short- and
long-run
causality between coal
consumption   and Gross National  Product
for Turkey
using annual data covering the period 1970-2014. Tests for unit roots,
cointegration, and Granger causality based on error correction model are
applied. In this study
was found that exists bidirectional Granger
causality between coal consumption and economic growth in the short and long
run
.
