A National Economic Approach Within the Framework of Economic Security

Öz

Today, the countries dominating the global economy referred to as superpowers are not only shifting to a war economy to intimidate one another but are also stockpiling precious metals, increasing defense spending, reducing reliance on foreign trade, striving for dominance in specific sectors, strengthening commercial and political integration with certain countries, or attempting to seize control of specific regions. For example, the United States’ efforts to bring Greenland under its political control on the one hand to secure various valuable minerals and, on the other, to transform the region into a technological hub represent strategic moves aimed at advancing artificial intelligence without relying on China, as seen during the chip crisis, and maintaining a leading position in the global economy. Additionally, activities inciting various countries into war have intensified. In this context, it is undeniable that there is a growing need for the forecasts contained in national security documents which assess the impacts of trade wars and the contributions of resources (such as precious metals, minerals, and oil) to the sustainability of national economic well-being, while addressing national economic strategic risks, threats, and opportunities as many countries engage in confrontations with one another. Therefore, this study examines strategic activities related to economic security in the United States, Japan, China, and Turkey, analyzing data from national security strategy documents and reports by international organizations. It conducts evaluations by comparing countries, taking into account their respective advantages and disadvantages.
