The Indo-Pacific as a Geopolitical Fault Line through NVivo-Assisted Analysis: India and Regional Security Dynamics

Öz

This article critically reinterprets the Indo-Pacific by challenging conventional approaches that portray it as a geographically fixed region governed by a singular security architecture. Drawing on critical geopolitics and NVivo-assisted qualitative content analysis, it argues that the Indo-Pacific is continuously reconstructed through competing state discourses, strategic practices and power projections rather than predetermined territorial boundaries. Within this dynamic order, India occupies a central analytical position. Its strategic autonomy, multi-alignment strategy and normative Indo-Pacific vision distinguish it from Western alliance-based approaches, China’s revisionist expansionism and Russia’s Eurasian orientation. Rather than acting as a secondary regional actor, India emerges as a pivotal geopolitical agent influencing the region’s evolving multipolar order through balancing strategies, security partnerships and civilizational diplomacy. The study concludes that the Indo-Pacific should be understood as a geopolitical fault line continuously produced through the security perceptions, institutional choices and spatial practices of regional actors, with India playing a decisive role in shaping its transformation.
