This study examines the significance of digital traceability in food supply chains, focusing on the technologies employed, the benefits offered, and the challenges faced in practice. Digital traceability ensures that food products are monitored from production to consumption in a secure, transparent, and sustainable manner, thereby enhancing both food safety and consumer confidence. However, high implementation costs, lack of infrastructure, insufficient standards, and digital literacy gaps present notable barriers. The study also highlights case examples from different countries and proposes recommendations for the development of more inclusive, integrated, and sustainable digital traceability systems in the future.
