Both quantitative and qualitative research methods were used together in this study, which was conducted in order to determine the determinants of Imam Hatipli identity. The scale prepared within the scope of the research was applied to 450 Imam Hatip High School (IHL) graduates, also in-depth interviews were conducted with 15 graduates. According to the results of the research, it was determined that unlike other high school graduates, some identity elements are formed in IHL graduates and it has been determined that an identity of “Imam Hatipli” can be mentioned in a general sense. The prominent features of this identity can be listed as “moral, decent, respectful, devout, dignified”. Former graduates think that the imam hatip graduates who graduated after them lacked “idealism” or “Imam Hatiplilik” consciousness or new graduates are less qualified in terms of religious knowledge. According to the participants, another important factor in creating some differences between "old and new" graduates is the removal of bureaucratic / judicial barriers applied to Imam Hatip High Schools graduates and the transition to a less problematic period for students and graduates.
