The Effects of Calisthenic and Life Kinetik Exercises on Strength, Cognitive Skills, and Swimming Performance in Male Swimmers

Öz

Aim: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of 8 weeks of calisthenic and Life Kinetik exercises on strength, cognitive skills, and swimming performance in male swimmers.
Methods: Thirty-two athletes with a mean age of 23.18±2.14 years participated. They were randomly assigned to four groups: Life Kinetik exercise group, calisthenic exercise group, combined calisthenic and Life Kinetik exercise group, and control group. Before and after the intervention, handgrip, leg, and back strength were measured, along with cognitive performance using the Corsi Block Test and Aim Trainer Test, and swimming performance with 25-meter swimming times. Data analysis was carried out with SPSS 28.0, and the level of significance was set at p<0.05.
Results: Strength improved significantly over time in all groups, but no group differences were observed, showing that strength gains were similar across interventions. Cognitive outcomes revealed different progress patterns: the Corsi Block Test showed notable improvements in the Life Kinetik group and the combined exercise group, while the Aim Trainer Test indicated significant attention improvements in all groups, with the strongest effects again in the Life Kinetik and combined exercise groups. Swimming performance improved significantly in all groups, and although the Life Kinetik and combined exercise groups achieved better overall performance, improvement rates did not differ between groups.
Conclusion: Calisthenic and Life Kinetik exercises positively affected cognitive and motor performance in young swimmers. Calisthenics can contribute to strength but should be supported with traditional resistance training, especially for advanced athletes. Life Kinetik exercises, on the other hand, enhance attention, reaction, and swimming performance.

Erkek Yüzücülere Uygulanan Kalistenik ve Life Kinetik Egzersizlerinin Kuvvet, Bilişsel Beceri ve Yüzme Performansı Özellikleri Üzerine Etkisi

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, yüzücülere uygulanan 8 haftalık Kalistenik ve life kinetik egzersizlerinin kuvvet, bilişsel beceri ve yüzme performansı özellikleri üzerine etkisinin incelenmesidir.
Yöntem: Çalışmaya yaş ortalaması 23,18±2,14 yıl olan 32 erkek sporcu katılmıştır. Sporcular, life kinetik egzersiz grubu, kalistenik egzersiz grubu, kalistenik-life kinetik egzersiz grubu ve kontrol grubu olarak rastgele 4 gruba ayrılmıştır. Araştırmada el kavrama, bacak ve sırt kuvvetleri, bilişsel beceri tespitleri ile yüzme süreleri alınmıştır. Araştırmada veri analizi için SPSS 28.0 programından yararlanılmıştır. İstatiksel anlamlılık düzeyi p˂0.05 olarak kabul edilmiştir.
Bulgular: Çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre, el kavrama, bacak ve sırt kuvvetinde tüm gruplarda zamanla anlamlı gelişim elde edilmiştir. Ancak grup etkisi ve zaman×grup etkileşiminde anlamlı farklılık bulunmamış, bu da kuvvet kazanımlarının tüm gruplarda benzer şekilde gerçekleştiğini göstermiştir. Bilişsel testlerde Corsi Blok Testi sonuçları, grupların zamanla farklı gelişim gösterdiğini ortaya koymuştur; özellikle life kinetik egzersiz grubu ve kalistenik-life kinetik egzersiz grubunda artış olmuştur. Aim Trainer Testi sonuçları ise dikkat performansında tüm gruplarda anlamlı değişim olduğunu, ancak en belirgin farklılığın yine life kinetik egzersiz grubu ve kalistenik-life kinetik egzersiz grubu’nda gerçekleştiğini göstermiştir. Yüzme testinde ise tüm gruplarda zamanla yüzme hızlarında anlamlı artış görülmüştür. Grup etkisinde life kinetik egzersiz grubu ve kalistenik-life kinetik egzersiz grubu’nda diğerlerine göre daha iyi performans gösterirken gelişim oranları gruplar arasında farklılık göstermemiştir.
Sonuç: Kalistenik ve life kinetik egzersizleri genç yüzücülerde bilişsel ve motor performansı olumlu etkilemiştir. Kuvvet kazanımı için kalistenik çalışmaların, özellikle yetişkin ve performans sporcularında, geleneksel kuvvet antrenmanlarıyla desteklenmesi önerilirken, life kinetik egzersizleri dikkat, reaksiyon ve yüzme performansına katkı sağlamaktadır.
