In this study, the concept of digital transformation in higher education institutions is discussed in the context of digital transformation. In this context, it is aimed to map the development of these concepts and the studies carried out specifically. In the study, the concept of digital transformation, which has gained great importance today, is subjected to a bibliometric analysis of the existing literature using quantitative data specific to higher education institutions. It is aimed to determine what the study trends are and will be related to the concept and to provide a systematic summary for researchers to benefit from. The bibliometric data of different types of works scanned in the Web of Science database and published between 2021-2025 are determined as the unit of analysis. This research, which is conducted through a bibliometric review of 953 articles published between 2021 and 2025 on digital transformation in higher education institutions, determines trends over time, research areas, leading authors, geographical distribution of contributions and common keywords. In this direction, the research not only provides a quantitative view of the current literature, but also strongly emphasizes the multidisciplinary structure of digital transformation within the scope of higher education and draws a comprehensive picture of the field.
This research provides a comprehensive and systematic review of the literature on digital transformation in higher education institutions, transparently presents the current state of the field, and provides a useful reference point for future studies. As such, the study is not only methodologically innovative, but also a valuable resource from a practical perspective.
