Abstract
Although social media has transformed the modern information ecosystem, it has also paved the way for the uncontrolled spread of disinformation, particularly in critical areas such as economics. This article aims to systematically examine the dissemination mechanisms, impacts, and counter-strategies related to economic disinformation on social media. The study emphasizes that disinformation spreads much faster than true news due to its novel and emotional content, and reveals that social bots, algorithmic echo chambers, and professionally crafted content further amplify this process. Researches demonstrates that such false information has tangible effects on markets. Misleading financial news can lead to abnormal trading volumes and price volatility, especially in small-cap stocks, and even brief exposure can subconsciously influence individuals' decisions. Beyond this, disinformation erodes public trust and threatens democratic processes. This study argues that combating the problem cannot be achieved through a single method and requires a multi-faceted approach. Proposed strategies include the development of AI-powered detection systems, the enhancement of societal digital literacy and critical thinking skills, increased accountability for social media platforms, and the establishment of effective regulatory frameworks. This comprehensive approach is vital for both safeguarding the integrity of financial markets and sustaining the structure of a democratic society.
