Minstrels Tradition of Çamşıhı Region ‘Woman Minstrels’, “Aşık Hatice Mihrap Sample”
Abstract
Minstrels (in Turkish Aşık or Ozan) are known as folk artists who reflect the world view, beliefs, traditions and artistic taste of the society they live in and transfer them to future generations. Considering that the 'minstrels' keep thousands of sayings, duwaz, elegies, miraçlama and semahs in their memories, it will be seen that each of them is a separate research subject. It is a fact that since the 1950s, it has differentiated in terms of execution and transfer, with the effect of the urban lifestyle and technological developments. Despite this, it was observed that minstrelsy preserved its structure. In 16th century to the first representatives of Minstrel Literature in Sivas, has also been found. Pir Sultan Abdal, Pir Ali, Pir Garip, Kul Huseyin in 17th century, Hüseyin Abdal, Kul Mustafa, Senem, Karaoğlan, in 18th century Hayrani, Sefil Öksüz, Kul Mehmet. The region has a very strong tradition of folk poetry, which still continues, thanks to the different cultural traditions and beliefs it has brought over the centuries.
The Çamşıhı region of Sivas province is a special region in terms of the tradition of 'minstrelsy', attitude, style, folkloric richness and the density of female minstrels. Since the second half of the twentieth century, women minstrels have been dealt with as a subject. The oral cultural process that has been going on for centuries in the region, the cultural accumulation and the validity of these assumptions and the transfer of this to the young generations still enabled the culture to live in a lively way.
In this study, the basic elements of the tradition of minstrelsy were compiled by scanning the literature on the subject. As an example of female minstrel, the life and works of a female minstrel, known with the "Aşık Hatice Mihrap" (Also known Aşık Fatoğ or Aşık Kız), who is one of the important lovers in the region, has been examined.
