Öz

Managers are strategic actors whose decisions shape not only the future of their organizations but also the future of society. Their decisions have a wide sphere of influence ranging from employees to customers, from suppliers to investors, and even to the welfare of the country at the macro level. In this context, it is extremely important to understand and evaluate the managerial process and to gain important information about leadership. At this point, the book “Bedtime Stories for Managers” written by Henry Mintzberg, one of the doyens of management science, contributes to the understanding of this world by taking its readers on a pleasant journey in the world of management. Reflecting the managerial genius of Henry Mintzberg, the book is also full of stories enriched with humorous touches. The book uses an unconventional narrative about the science of management and offers its readers an entertaining learning experience. Mintzberg's vast managerial experience is felt in the stories, which helps to easily understand the important lessons about management. The purpose of this review is to critically examine the book and its messages in the light of management science.

Mintzberg’den yöneticilere öyküler

Öz

Yöneticiler, aldıkları kararlarla yalnızca kurumlarının değil, aynı zamanda toplumun geleceğini de şekillendiren stratejik aktörlerdir. Zira yöneticilerin kararları, çalışanlardan müşterilere, tedarikçilerden yatırımcılara ve hatta makro düzeyde ülke refahına kadar uzanan geniş bir etki alanına sahiptir. Bu bağlamda, yöneticilik sürecini anlamak ve değerlendirmek, liderlik konusunda önemli bilgiler edinmek son derece önemlidir. İşte bu noktada, yönetim biliminin duayenlerinden Henry Mintzberg'in kaleme aldığı "Yöneticilere Öyküler" adlı kitap, okuyucularını yöneticilik dünyasında keyifli bir yolculuğa çıkararak bu dünyanın anlaşılmasına katkı sağlıyor. Henry Mintzberg'in yöneticilik dehasını yansıtan eser, aynı zamanda mizahi dokunuşlarla zenginleştirilmiş öykülerle doludur. Kitap, yönetim bilimine dair alışılmışın dışında bir anlatım kullanmakta, okuyucularına eğlenceli bir öğrenme deneyimi sunmaktadır.
