"ORTADOĞU" KAVRAMINDAN ÖNCE: MEHMET BEHÇET’İN "ASYA" ADLI MENSUR ŞİİRİNDEKİ GÖNDERGELER

Mehmet Behçet Yazar’ın Matbaa-i Ahmed İhsân ve Şürekâsı tarafından 1925 yılında yayımlanan Buhûrdan adlı mensur şiir kitabındaki Asya şiiri, coğrafyanın içinde yer alan tarihi, coğrafyayı ve mitleri barındırması açısından önemlidir. Asya kıtasının tarihini, coğrafi özelliklerini, mitolojik, dinî ve kültürel arkaik yapısını şiirsel üslupla aktaran Mehmet Behçet Yazar, kendi zamanından coğrafyanın tarihine, sanatına ve yaşayan halklarına göndermelerde bulunur. Şiirde, metinlerarası göndermeler vasıtasıyla yalnızca çağdaş bağlamı değil, tarihsel perspektifi, dinî epistemolojik yaklaşımları, tasavvufî öğretilerin tezahürlerini, toplum ve mitoloji arasındaki diyalektiği, ayrıca coğrafyanın kültürel kodlarını içeren kavramlar çerçevesinde aidiyetin yeniden teşekkül etme süreci işlenir. Çalışmada, şiir metninin öznesi ve alımlayıcısı okur ekseninde ele alınıp mensur şiir türündeki Asya metninin göndergeleri ve varlık dünyası ortaya çıkarılacaktır. Eser, iç yapısının dilbilgisel kapsamıyla anlam katmanlarının işaret ettiği varoluş mitleriyle İmparatorluk’tan Cumhuriyet’e geçişin tanığı olan şair tarafından mensur şiir türünün olanaklarıyla kaleme alınarak “Ortadoğu” kavramının henüz var olmadığı Asya’yı anlatır. Çalışmada da Asya halklarından olan Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nda yaşayan bir sanatkârın bakış açısı ekseninde, aidiyet olgusunun, coğrafyanın kültürel kodlarının oluşturduğu kollektif belleğin izi ortaya konularak bütüncül yaklaşımla metnin anlam dünyası incelenecektir.

Mehmet Behçet Yazar’s poem “Asia,” found in his prose poetry book “Buhûrdan” published by Matbaa-i Ahmed İhsân ve Şürekâsı in 1925, is significant for its incorporation of history, geography, and myths embedded within the geographical context. Mehmet Behçet Yazar, who conveys the history, geographical features, mythological, religious, and cultural archaic structure of the Asian continent in a poetic style, makes references from his contemporary era to the geography’s history, art, and extant populations. In the poem, through intertextual references, not only the contemporary context but also the historical perspective, religious epistemological approaches, manifestations of Sufi teachings, the dialectic between society and mythology, as well as the process of reconstituting belonging within the framework of concepts containing the cultural codes of geography are addressed. In this study, will be examined from the perspectives of the poetic subject and the reader, revealing the referents and existential world of the prose poem “Asia.” The work, with its grammatical scope of internal structure and the existential myths indicated by its layers of meaning, narrates Asia—where the concept of the “Middle East” did not yet exist—through the possibilities of the prose poem genre by a poet who witnessed the transition from Empire to Republic. This study will trace the phenomenon of belonging and the collective memory formed by the cultural codes of geography from the perspective of an artist living in the Ottoman Empire, one of the Asian peoples, and analyze the semantic world of the text with a holistic approach.
