SOSYAL VE SİYASİ DEĞİŞMELER AÇISINDAN PEYAMİ SAFA'NIN MAHŞER ROMANI

Peyami Safa's novel Mahşer (Armageddon) covers a period of six months Jollowing the signing of the Moudros armistice treaty. ln addition, it is alsa known that a significant part of tlıe social and political events that took place during the First World War was covered in the work through back and Jorth movements within the story. Although literary review with extra-textual elements is a method being abandoned recently, sometimes it is not possible ta explain literary works without reference ta outside sources. The way social and political events are refiected in the literary work needs ta be identified in order ta fully understand it. The aim of this study is ta identify tlıe sections where lıistorical reality intersects with historical events that the author mentions in the novel and underline Peyami Safa's adherence ta historical documents as part of his understanding of historical novels. Another goal of the study is ta assess a certaiıı historical cross-section with the perspective of the author ofa literary work just as it is included in the work and thus fostering historians' interest towards literary works.
