This study aims to determining of sea urchin fishing methods, fishing gear, fishing season, form of consumption and contributions to both regional economy and fishery. This study was carried out in the coasts of Ayvalık between January and March 2013. We made interviewing with sea urchin fishermen and on-site observations. The seasonal sea urchin fishery is done for additional income by local fishermen. The sea urchins are collected by both diving and indigenous spoon shape scoop. Sea urchins obtained are cut transversal and gutted the gonads. Then, the gonads are bottled as 200 ml; afterwards, these bottles are sold to the local restaurants and/or other restaurants in Istanbul and Ankara. We determined that the local people are also participated to this fishery. Sea urchins are known with aphrodisiac effects and used appetizer.
