This article analyzes the art of Lebanese artist Walid Raad. The relationship between Raad's archival approach in his art, and the conceptual, aesthetic, and political content of his work is explored. In this article, Raad's approach to artistic creation is limited to his Atlas Group Project. Within these limits, both a general analysis of Walid Raad's view of art, and a comprehensive examination of the specific and universal content of the Atlas Group Project, have been possible. Through the Atlas Group Project, the possibilities of discussing the issue of what is truth, what claims to be truth, and what is fiction, as well as what are the boundaries and at the same time how these boundaries can be blurred through the field of art have been explored. The manipulative dimension of his works is discussed together with Raad's fictional work texts. In this context, the study adopts a qualitative research method that examines the problem of art and truth from the center of an artist and his project. The analysis of Raad's Atlas Group works is important for a better understanding of the complex fictional dimension of the work since it is not always easy for the viewer to distinguish the distorted dimensions of the historical data claimed to be real by the artist. Moreover, this study of the possibilities of creating from historical data in the field of art opens the potential to raise new questions for other possible works. Finally, the analysis of the Atlas Group work aims to contribute to a reconsideration of historical data and the ways in which we understand it.
