Plagiarism Policy

The İstanbul 29 Mayıs University Law Review respects intellectual property rights and aims to protect and promote the originality of its authors’ work. Articles containing plagiarized material violate the journal’s standards of quality, research, and innovation. Therefore, all authors submitting to the journal are expected to adhere to ethical standards and avoid all forms of plagiarism.

If plagiarism is suspected in a submitted or published manuscript, the following procedure applies:

The Editorial Board first reviews the case internally.

The case is then evaluated by the Editors’ Board.

The journal contacts the author(s) within 15 days to request an explanation.

If no response is received within the stated period, the journal notifies the author’s affiliated institution and requests a formal investigation.

Sanctions for Proven Plagiarism

If plagiarism is confirmed in a published work, the İstanbul 29 Mayıs University Law Review will take the following actions:

The journal will immediately contact the author’s affiliated university to request official action.

The PDF copy of the article will be removed from the website, deleted from the issue file, and all links to the article will be disabled. The phrase “Retracted: Plagiarized Article” will be added to the title.

The author’s account will be deactivated, and the author will be prohibited from submitting new manuscripts for a period of five (5) years.

Reporting Misconduct

Readers who identify an error or ethical issue in a published article may report it by emailing hukukdergi@29mayis.edu.tr

Similarity Reports and Screening

Authors are required to submit a similarity report for all new submissions. Manuscripts that pass the preliminary review are scanned using the Turnitin plagiarism detection system.

If plagiarism or self-plagiarism is detected, the authors are notified. Manuscripts showing a similarity index exceeding 25% or more than 5% similarity from a single source may be rejected or returned to the author for revision to reduce the similarity rate.
