Abstract
Yaşam beklentisinin uzunluğunda yıllar içerisinde meydana gelen artış, insanların daha uzun ve sağlıklı bir ömür geçirmelerini sağlamanın yanı sıra, uzun dönemde iktisadi büyüme ve gelişmenin en önemli ölçütü haline gelmiştir. Çalışmada 1980-2015 dönemi için Türkiyede yaşam beklentisindeki artışın tasarruflar üzerine etkisi ARDL sınır testi yöntemi ile kısa ve uzun dönem açısından incelenmiştir. Kesişen nesiller teorisi çerçevesinde oluşturulan teorik modelde tasarruf birikimi hane halklarının gelecek nesillerin refahına verdiği önem ve yaşam beklentisi düzeyi ile yakından ilgilidir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, yaşam beklentisindeki artış kısa dönemde orta yaş dönemindeki hane halklarının emeklilik dönemine ulaşma olasılığını arttıracak ve aktif çalışan nüfusun çalışma süresinin uzaması toplam tasarruflar üzerinde pozitif etki yaratacaktır. Ancak diğer taraftan yaşam beklentisindeki artışla birlikte yükselen bağımlı nüfus oranı uzun dönemde toplam tasarrufları negatif olarak etkileyecektir.
Abstract
The increase in the length of life expectancy over the years has become the most important measure of economic
growth and development in the long run, as well as enabling people to live longer and healthier lives. In the
study, the effect of the increase in life expectancy in Turkey for the period 1980-2015 on the savings was
examined in terms of short and long term with the ARDL method. According to the findings, the increase in
expectation of life from one side will increase the probability of reaching the retirement period of middle age
households, which prolongs to the working period of active working population and have a positive effect on
total savings, but on the other hand, while increasing the proportion of dependent population from the other side
and affect total savings negatively in the long run..
