Abstract

Ev Yarası is poet Cengiz Şenol's first poetry collection, spanning his twenty-five-year career as a poet. The work is written in a pure poetic style, continuing İkinci Yeni poetry style. Şenol's poetry consists of few but meaningful poems that focus on words. The techniques of poetry writing and the intertextual relationships established with words and images are notable in this poetry. Intertextuality creates a multi-layered, deep world of meaning in Şenol's poetry. An infinite intertextual network is established with words and images commonly used in modern Turkish poetry. This network creates a rich field of cultural associations. Intertextual connections are established with the poetry of Ahmet Haşim, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Ahmet Muhip Dıranas, Behçet Necatigil, and Hilmi Yavuz with the words and images such as home, evening, rose, September, autumn, ah, sadness, summer, water, sea, mother, father, child, bird, garden, mirror, door, doorway, blood, emptiness, dream, wound, word, language, poetry, letter, writing... Şenol's poetry captures originality by reproducing tradition.

AN INTERTEXTUAL APPROACH TO CENGIZ ŞENOL'S EV YARASI
