Abstract

This study aims to determine the mediating role of emotional exhaustion and job stress in the effect of earthquake fear on turnover intention. For this purpose, the study sample, which employed a quantitative research method, consisted of employees working in social service institutions in the provinces affected by the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes in Turkey. When the results obtained from the hypothesis tests were examined, it was seen that earthquake fear did not have a significant effect on turnover intention, but it had a positive and significant effect on emotional exhaustion and job stress. Additionally, it was found that emotional exhaustion and job stress had a positive and significant impact on turnover intention. Finally, it was concluded that emotional exhaustion and job stress mediated the effect of earthquake fear on turnover intention.
