Sustainability is meeting today’s needs without harming the needs of future generations. Currently, as people show tendency to arbitrary-based consumption rather than the need-based one, the consumption rate continually increases. Particularly, the fashion manner which brings arbitrary-based consumption to the textile sector, has caused this industry to take place among the sectors that disrupt ecosystems. In this study, it is aimed to determine and model the sustainability challenges encountered by Kahramanmaraş that is one of the leading provinces of textile industry in Turkey. This research was carried out by determining 10 criteria. DEMATEL, one of the multi-criteria decision making techniques, was used in this study and the data were obtained by conducting face-to-face interviews with the experts of the industry. By interpreting the findings, it was found that the most dominant criterion was the complex supply chains. The least effective criterion in the system was determined as the lack of government policies. Finally, limitations of this study and future research directions are discussed
