AIDS HAKKINDA BİLDİKLERİMİZ: BİR ÜNİVERSİTE ÖRNEĞİ

Abstract

Tanımlayıcı nitelikteki araştırma, üniversite öğrencilerinin AIDS hakkında bilgi ve tutumunu değerlendirmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Eğitim, İlahiyat, Sağlık Bilimleri, Mühendislik, Hukuk, Spor Bilimleri, Eczacılık, İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültelerinde Ekim 2021 –Mart 2022 tarihleri arasında öğrenim gören 9270 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırma örneklemini 1381 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Veriler, tanımlayıcı bilgi formu ve AIDS Bilgi ve Tutum Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin %62.9’u kadın, %70.4’ü 18-21 yaş aralığında olup %87.8’sinin AIDS hakkında eğitim almadığı belirlenmiştir. AIDS bilgi ölçeği puan ortalamasının 55.82±10.82 olduğu, AIDS tutum ölçeği puan ortalamasının 8.69±4.83 olduğu saptanmıştır. Katılımcıların, cinsiyet, yaş, fakülte, sınıf düzeyi, AIDS hakkında eğitim alma ile AIDS bilgi puanı arasında, cinsiyet ve sınıf düzeyi ile de AIDS tutum ölçeği arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0.05). Öğrencilerin AIDS'e yönelik bilgi düzeylerinin düşük düzeyde ve AIDS'e yönelik tutumlarının olumlu olduğu belirlenmiştir. Konuyla ilgili olarak eğitim müfredatlarında cinsel sağlık veya bulaşıcı hastalıklara yönelik derslerin entegre edilmesi önerilir.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT AIDS: AN UNIVERSITY EXAMPLE

Abstract

The descriptive study was conducted to evaluate the knowledge and attitude of university students about AIDS. The research is descriptive in nature. The population of the research consisted of 9270 students studying at the Faculties of Education, Theology, Health Sciences, Engineering, Law, Sports Sciences, Pharmacy, Economics and Administrative Sciences between October 2021 and March 2022. The research sample consisted of 1381 students. Data were collected using descriptive information form and AIDS Knowledge and Attitude Scale. It was determined that in the study 62.9% of the students participating were women, 70.4% are between the ages of 18-21, and 87.8% did not receive training about AIDS. The mean score of the AIDS Information Scale was 55.82 ± 10.82, and the average of the AIDS attitude scale was 8.69 ± 4.83. Participants have a significant relationship between gender, faculty, class level, training about AIDS and AIDS information score, gender and class level and AIDS attitude scale (p<0.05). It was determined that students' knowledge levels about AIDS were low and their attitudes towards AIDS were positive. It is recommended to integrate courses on sexual health or infectious diseases in the education curricula.
