In Classical Turkish Poetry, historical poems written to congratulate the new year with the titles “sâl-i cedîd, tebrîk-i sal, tebrîk-i sal-i cedid” began to appear with Cevrî in the 16th century, as far as can be determined. Ayni in the 17th century; In the 18th century, it continued with the poems of Sheikh Galib, Nedim and Sünbül-zâde Vehbi. In the 19th century, poems of sâl-i cedîd were published in the literature corners of some newspapers as well as divans. In this context, it has been observed that when Muallim Nâcî started to manage the literature column of the newspaper Tercümân-ı Hakîkat, the poems of sal-i cedîd were also published in the newspaper.
In the 17th and 18th centuries, the poems of "sâl-i cedîd", which were written in kıt‘a and ode verse forms, started to be written in verse forms such as muhammes and murabba from the 19th century. In these poems, which were written mostly by civil servants who served in the 19th century, there is also the praise of the sultan of the period as well as the new year greeting. One of the first sâl-i cedîd poems published in the newspaper Tercümân-ı Hakîkat belongs to Abdülaziz Asım Efendi. There are five sâl-i cedîd poems, two in Turkish, two in Arabic and one in Persian, in his issue of 15 Teşrînisânî 1882 numbered 1325.
In the study, two Turkish sâl-i cedîd poems belonging to the beforementioned poet, which have not been published in the Turkish alphabet with Latin letters, will be published with a short evaluation.
