Mission and Vision

Academic Journal of Language and Literature (Akademik Dil ve Edebiyat Dergisi - ADED) is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access periodical that aims to generate scholarly literature characterized by high international standards, originality, and theoretical and methodological depth in the field of Turkish language and literature research. Our journal envisions contributing to qualitative knowledge dissemination at national and international levels, presenting high-caliber scientific outputs in Turkish language and literature, and elevating academic rigor through quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.

General Information and Editorial Policy

• Scope: ADED covers original philological, literary, intertextual, and theoretical studies within the sub-disciplines of Turkish Language and Literature: Old Turkish Literature, Old Turkish Language, Modern Turkish Literature, Modern Turkish Language, and Turkish Folk Literature. Out-of-scope manuscripts or studies lacking an established interdisciplinary framework will not be evaluated.
• Publication Type: In alignment with our international indexing goals and editorial policy, our journal exclusively considers original "Research Articles." Manuscripts derived from graduate theses, review articles, book reviews, translations, conference proceedings, and opinion pieces/evaluations are not accepted.
• Publication Frequency: ADED is published thrice a year (March, July, and November) in a single volume, strictly in electronic format (e-journal). Special or thematic issues may be published upon the resolution of the Editorial Board when deemed necessary.
• Fee Policy (Diamond / Platinum Open Access): ADED operates under the Diamond Open Access model. Authors or their institutions are never charged any fees (Article Processing Charge - APC) at any stage of the submission, review, peer-review, layout, DOI assignment, or publication processes. All editorial and publication processes are entirely free of charge.
• Annual Article Quota and Author Limits: To ensure academic diversity and equitable evaluation, an author may submit only one (1) manuscript to ADED within a single calendar year (the same volume period). Furthermore, pursuant to international indexing criteria, the proportion of accepted articles affiliated with the same institution or university cannot exceed 20% of the total number of articles published in the corresponding issue.

Submission Windows

To ensure that editorial workflows and international indexing schedules proceed seamlessly, manuscript submissions are accepted exclusively via the DergiPark system during the following dates:

• For the March Issue: January 20 – January 30
• For the July Issue: May 20 – May 30
• For the November Issue: September 20 – September 30

Evaluation Process and Double-Blind Peer Review

ADED strictly enforces a "Double-Blind Peer Review" system to guarantee impartiality, scientific objectivity, and academic quality.

Submitted manuscripts undergo a 15-day technical preliminary review and iThenticate similarity check (requiring a similarity index below 20%, excluding the bibliography) conducted by the Editor-in-Chief and Field Editors. Following this stage, manuscripts are submitted to at least two (2) independent peer reviewers expert in the relevant field. The average duration for peer review is 60–90 days. Manuscripts approved by peer reviewers subsequently undergo language editing (Turkish and English) and proofreading before being finalized for publication by decision of the Editorial Board. In the event of conflicting reviewer reports, the manuscript is assigned to a third peer reviewer (third blind reviewer).

Ethical Standards, Research Ethics, and Publication Ethics

To uphold scientific integrity at the highest level throughout the research and publishing processes, ADED rigorously adheres to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Academic Publishing announced by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), alongside the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive.

• Plagiarism and Malpractice: The journal's "Plagiarism Action Plan" is uncompromisingly enforced against ethical violations such as plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and gift/ghost authorship.
• Ethics Committee Approval: For all studies involving field research, surveys, interviews, or human participants, an official "Ethics Committee Approval Certificate" must be uploaded to the system during submission, and the Committee Name, Approval Date, and Decision/Number must be explicitly stated within the manuscript text (under the Methodology/Ethics Statement section).
• Conflict of Interest and Author Contribution Statement: Authors are required to explicitly declare any financial support received for the research, potential conflicts of interest, and individual author contribution rates at the end of the manuscript.

Copyright, Licensing, Digital Archiving, and ORCID

• Open Access License: All works published in ADED are made publicly accessible under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.
• Copyright and Author Rights: Authors retain the copyright of their published work (retain copyright). During submission, a Copyright Agreement Form signed by the authors must be uploaded to the system. Authors are permitted to deposit the published version of their work in institutional repositories or personal websites without an embargo period (Self-Archiving / Green Open Access).
• ORCID ID: All authors submitting manuscripts to the journal are required to register their current ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) numbers in the system.
• Persistent Indexing and Archiving: In compliance with the indexing logic of international citation databases, every article published in ADED is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) as a persistent identifier. All published issues and article archives are permanently preserved and secured for open access via the DergiPark infrastructure. Additionally, metadata is archived within LOCKSS / CLOCKSS digital preservation systems.
