Kemal Tahir’in Devlet Ana Romanında Ordu-Millet Anlayışı

Abstract

Kemal Tahir, tarihî roman yazarlığı alanında Türk edebiyatının önde gelen isimlerinden biridir. Eserlerinde dönem ve olayları ele alırken yaşananları yalnızca bir zaman dizgisi olarak değil, toplumsal ve siyasal süreçlerin bir ürünü olarak değerlendirir. Bu nedenle romanlarında olayları zamanın sosyolojik, ekonomik ve siyasî unsurlarını da göz önünde bulundurarak neden-sonuç ilişkisi içinde anlatır. Yazarın bu doğrultuda kaleme aldığı romanlardan biri, 1967 yılında yayımlanan Devlet Ana’dır. Romanda bir taraftan Osmanlı Devleti’nin kuruluş ve büyüme mücadelesi işlenirken diğer taraftan Türklerin Orta Asya kültürü ve İslâm inancını harmanlayarak oluşturdukları kültürel ögeler yansıtılır. Başka bir ifadeyle yazar romanda, Osmanlı toplumunu oluşturan temel kimlik kodlarını kendi bakış açısıyla irdeler. Dönemin koşullarından ve toplum düzeninden hareketle, Osmanlı’nın kendine özgü sosyal yapısının temellerini ortaya koyar. Bu bağlamda Kemal Tahir, Osmanlı Devleti’nin kuruluşunda rol oynayan hususlardan biri olarak Türklerin ordu-millet anlayışına dikkat çeker. Türklerin askerî temelli bir toplumsal yapıya sahip olduğunu ve mevzubahis anlayışın Orta Asya’dan başlayarak Osmanlı Devleti’ne kadar süregeldiğini vurgular. Tematik verilerden hareketle metin çözümlemesi yapılan bu çalışmada, yazarın ordu-millet anlayışını Devlet Ana romanına nasıl yansıttığı incelenmiştir.

The Understanding of Army-Nation in Kemal Tahir’s Devlet Ana Novel

Abstract

Kemal Tahir is one of the leading names in Turkish literature in the field of historical novel writing. In his works, the events experienced during the period and events are examined not only as a time series, but as a product of social and political parts. For this reason, he narrates the course of events in the novels within cause-effect relationships, taking into account their economic and political uncertainties. One of the novels written by the author in this direction is Devlet Ana, published in 1967. This novel deals with the struggle for the establishment and growth of the Ottoman State in one country, while on the other hand, it reflects the cultural elements formed by the Turks blending the Central Asian culture and Islamic faith. With another gain, the author examines the basic identity codes of the Ottoman society from his own perspective in this novel. Based on the conditions of the period and the social order, he reveals the foundations of the Ottoman's unique social structure. In this context, Kemal Tahir draws attention to the army-nation understanding of the Turks as one of the characteristics of the Ottoman State playing a role in the organization. He emphasizes that the Turkish military had an ordinary social structure and that this understanding started in Central Asia and continued until the Ottoman State. These designs, which were analyzed textually based on thematic data, are how the author's understanding of the army-nation is reflected in the novel Devlet Ana.
