LABELLE PRUSSIN ÜZERİNDEN AFRİKA YEREL MİMARLIĞI’NA DAİR SÖYLENEBİLECEKLER

Abstract

Labelle Prussin yerel ve geleneksel Afrika mimarlığı üzerine araştırmalar yapan bir mimar ve araştırmacıdır. Çalışmalarında mimarlık tarihi yazımı geleneği içerisindeki tek yanlı bakış açısını eleştirir. Batı düşünce ve sanat sistemi içerisinde Afrika sanatının ve mimarisinin geniş bir yankı bulamamasının nedenlerini sorgular. Bunun arkasında yatan ön yargılı tavrın nedenlerini inceler. Bu makale, Prussin’in çalışmaları üzerinden Afrika mimarlığı üzerine bir açımlama yapmaktadır. Makalenin temel metodu niteliksel bir araştırma üzerine kuruludur. Kullanılan bu niteliksel metot; teorik okuma, kavramsallaştırma ve tartışma üstünde şekillenmektedir. Makale Türkçe dilinde yazılmış Afrika yerel ve geleneksel mimarisi ve bu mimarlığın arkasında yatan düşünce sistemine dair literatür eksikliğini doldurmak amacıyla yazılmıştır.

COMMENTS ON AFRICAN INDIGENOUS ARCHITECTURE THROUGH LABELLE PRUSSIN

Abstract

Labelle Prussin is an architect and researcher who studies indigenous and traditional African architecture. In her works, Prussin criticizes the one-sided point of view within the architectural historiography’s tradition. She questions why African art and architecture have not found an effective reflection in Western thought and art. She examines the reasons behind the biased attitude. This article debates African architecture through Prussin's work. The primary method of the article is based on qualitative research. The qualitative approach used theoretical reading, conceptualizing and discussion. This article was written in Turkish to fill the literature on African indigenous and traditional architecture and its thinking system that sits behind this architecture.
