Evaluation of the Contributions of Private Courses in Biology Education, According to students’ Opinions

Abstract

This study aimed to determine positive and negative effects of private courses to biolgy education in Turkey. The subjects of the study was composed of 230 students selected randomly from private courses in Erzurum city centre. In order to determine the views about contributions of private courses to biology teaching a questionnaire composed from two main section was administered. Frequencies and percentages were calculated from the results. Students stated that the major factor to attend private courses is to be successful in OSS, the main factor affecting students selection of the courses in the student teacher a relationship. Students were determined to prefer private courses as a result of insufficient resources and opportunities in secondary education facilities
