Evaluation of the Contributions of Private Courses in Biology Education, According to students’ Opinions

Abstract

This study aimed to determine positive and negative effects of private courses to biolgy education in Turkey. The subjects of the study was composed of 230 students selected randomly from private courses in Erzurum city centre. In order to determine the views about contributions of private courses to biology teaching a questionnaire composed from two main section was administered. Frequencies and percentages were calculated from the results. Students stated that the major factor to attend private courses is to be successful in OSS, the main factor affecting students selection of the courses in the student teacher a relationship. Students were determined to prefer private courses as a result of insufficient resources and opportunities in secondary education facilities

Özel Dershanelerin Biyoloji Öğretimine Katkılarının Öğrenci Görüşlerine Göre Değerlendirilmesi

Öz

Bu araştırma ile Türkiye’de eğitim sisteminde yer alan özel dershanelerin biyoloji eğitimine sağladığı olumlu ve olumsuz etkilerini belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırma Erzurum il merkezindeki muhtelif dershanelerden basit tesadüfi örneklem ile 230 öğrenci örneklem grubu olarak alınmıştır. Dershanelerin biyoloji öğretimine katkıları hakkındaki görüşleri belirlemek amacıyla iki bölümden oluşan anket uygulandı. Elde edilen verilerin analizin de frekans ve yüzde değerleri kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin dershaneye devam etmesindeki en büyük etkenin ÖSS’yi kazanmak olduğu ve dershane seçiminde öğretmen-öğrenci ilişkisinin önemli olduğu vurgulanmıştır. Dershane eğitimi ile okul eğitimi karşılaştırılarak, okullardaki öğretimin eksik yönleri belirlenmiştir. Orta öğretim kurumlarında gözlenen yetersizlikler sebebiyle öğrencilerin daha iyi olanaklara sahip olan dershanelere yöneldikleri saptanmıştır.
