The Study of Validity and Reliability Test of Cognitive Abilities Test Form-6 for 61-72 Month Old Children

Abstract

This study was planned to evaluate the validity and reliability works of Cognitive Abilities Test Form-6 for 61-72 month-old children. The research was carried out with 61-72 month-old 380 children attending to kindergartens in Afyonkarahisar, all which were affiliated to Turkish Ministry of National Education in 2008-2009 education years. In addition, in order to determine the validity of the test, interior consistency coefficient was calculated and KR-20 values were found out to be .76 for the Verbal Battery, .82 for the Quantitative Battery, .70 for the Non-Verbal Battery and .91 for the overall test. Test retest correlation coefficient were found as r= 89.5 for the Verbal Battery, r= 98.9 for the Quantitative Battery, r= 96.8 for the Non-Verbal Battery and r= 98.4 for the overall test. Analyses indicate that Cognitive Abilities Test Form-6 has high level of reliability and validity to measure verbal, quantitative and non-verbal reasoning ability of 61-72 month-old children.
