The Effects Of Creative Thinking Activities on Learners’ Creative Thinking Skills and Academic Achievement
Abstract
The goal of this study was to test for the effects of creative thinking activities and information technology assisted creative thinking activities on learners’ creative thinking skills and academic achievement in geography lesson. The students were all 11th grade students in Zühtü Özkardaşlar (Balıkesir) Anatolian High School (n=40) enrolled the academic year 2013-2014. Nonequivalent pretest - posttest control grouped quasi-experimental design was executed with two samples of students: Control group and Experiment group. Data was collected by Torrance Creative Thinking Test Verbal B Form and achievement test. The results of the first tests and the final tests were compared with the help of the statistical technique of t test. The results show that; the creative thinking skills and academic achievement of the experiment group which information technology assisted creative thinking activities have been applied and the control group which creative thinking activities have been applied increased. In addition, the creative thinking skills and academic achievement of the control group increased more than the experiment group.
