Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to examine how much the variables of emotional and psychological well-being and life satisfaction predict the problem solving levels of primary school children. For this purpose, a correlational study was conducted. The research group consisted of a total of 376 students, 198 (52.7%) boys and 178 (47.3%) girls, studying at state primary schools in the Bucak district of Burdur province in the 2020-2021 academic year. “Problem Solving Inventory for Children”, “Emotional and Psychological Well-being Scale for Stirling Children”, “Life Satisfaction Scale for Children” and “Personal Information Form” were used as data collection tools. Pearson product-moment correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis (stepwise) method were used in the statistical analysis of the data. As a result of the research, it was revealed that the variables of “emotional and psychological well-being” and “life satisfaction”, respectively, in terms of their predictive power, significantly predicted the problem solving levels of primary school students. It was determined that the variables of emotional and psychological well-being and life satisfaction together explained 31% of the problem solving level. The findings obtained from the research were discussed in the light of the literature and suggestions were presented for future research.
