Kitap İncelemesi: Utopia and Dystopia in German Literature and Film

Abstract

Bu kitap tanıtımı, İstanbul Üniversitesi Yayınları tarafından 2024 yılında yayımlanan Utopia and Dystopia in German Literature and Film adlı bilimsel çalışma hakkında genel bir bakış sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. İstanbul Üniversitesi’nden Doç. Dr. Irem Atasoy ve Marmara Üniversitesi’nden Doç. Dr. Habib Tekin editörlüğünde hazırlanan bu akademik eser, Almanca edebiyat ve film bağlamında ütopya ve distopya çalışmalarına dair disiplinlerarası araştırma alanına önemli bir katkı sunmaktadır. Kitap, “Ütopya” ve “Distopya” olmak üzere iki bölüme ayrılmış olup toplamda on dokuz bilimsel makaleyi içermektedir. Bu makalelerin on tanesi ütopya bölümünde, geri kalan dokuzu ise distopya bölümünde yer almaktadır. Söz konusu bilimsel çalışmalar, dünyanın farklı bölgelerinden alanında yetkin akademisyenler ve uzmanlar tarafından kaleme alınmıştır. Bu tanıtım yazısı, her bir bölümün temel konularını ve odak noktalarını özetlemeyi, yazarlar tarafından kullanılan kuramsal ve yöntemsel yaklaşımları açıklamayı ve çalışmaların ortaya koyduğu temel bulguları vurgulamayı hedeflemektedir. Bu yolla metin, söz konusu bilimsel derlemenin ütopya ve distopya araştırmaları açısından önemini ortaya koymayı ve eleştirel düşünce ve akademik söylem bağlamında çağdaş edebiyat ve kültür çalışmalarına sağladığı katkıyı gözler önüne sermeyi amaçlamaktadır.

Book review: Utopia and Dystopia in German Literature and Film

Abstract

This book review aims to provide an overview of Utopia and Dystopia in German Literature and Film, published in 2024 by Istanbul University Press. Edited by Assoc. Prof. Irem Atasoy from Istanbul University and Assoc. Prof. Habib Tekin from Marmara University, this scholarly volume makes a significant contribution to the interdisciplinary field of utopia-dystopia studies within the context of German-language literature and film. The book is divided into two main sections as ‘Utopia’ and ‘Dystopia’ and comprises a total of nineteen academic articles. Ten of these articles are included in the utopian section, while the remaining nine belong to the dystopian part of the book. All these scholarly contributions are written by competent academicians and scholars from different parts of the world. This review seeks to present a concise summary of each chapter by outlining the central topics and scopes, examining the theoretical and methodological approaches employed by the authors, and highlighting the key findings of their research. In doing so, the review aims to demonstrate the intellectual breadth and relevance of the volume to the utopia-dystopia studies, as well as its valuable contribution to contemporary literary and cultural studies in relation to modern critical thought and academic discourse.

Rezension über Utopia and Dystopia in German Literature and Film

Abstract

Diese Buchrezension bezweckt einen Überblick über den von Istanbul Universty Press veröffentlichten Sammelband Utopia and Dystopia in German Literature and Film (2024) zu geben. Dieser von Dr. habil. Irem Atasoy von der Universität Istanbul und Dr. habil. Habib Tekin von der Marmara-Universität herausgegebene wissenschaftliche Band leistet einen wichtigen Beitrag zum interdisziplinären Forschungsfeld der Utopie- und Dystopie- Studien im Kontext der deutschsprachigen Literatur und des Films. Dieser Sammelband wird in zwei Abschnitte geteilt, nämlich „Utopie“ und „Dystopie“, und umfasst insgesamt neunzehn wissenschaftliche Beiträge. Zehn davon sind in der Utopie-Sektion eingeschlossen, während die übrigen neun der Dystopie-Sektion des Buchs zugeordnet sind. Alle diese wissenschaftlichen Beiträge werden von den ausgewiesenen Akademiker:innen und Fachleuten aus den unterschiedlichen Teilen der Welt. Diese Rezension zielt darauf ab, eine prägnante Zusammenfassung jedes Kapitels zu geben, indem sie die zentralen Themen und Schwerpunkte der Beiträge darstellt, die von Autor:innen angewendete theoretische und methologische Ansätze beleuchtet, und wichtige Erkenntnisse ihrer Forschung hervorhebt. Auf diese Weise besetzt dieser Text den Zweck, die intellektuelle Breite und die Relevanz dieses wissenschaftlichen Sammelbands für die Utopie- und Dystopie-Forschung zu beweisen, sowie sein bedeutender Beitrag zu den zeitgenössischen Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften im Zusammenhang von dem kritischen Denken und von dem akademischen Diskurs zu veranschaulichen.
