Matematik Öğretmen Adaylarının Matematik Tarihinin Matematik Eğitimindeki Rolüne Yönelik Algıları Üzerine Bir İnceleme

Year 2020, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 258 - 317, 07.12.2020

Abstract

Bu araştırmada ilköğretim matematik öğretmen adaylarının etkinliklerle ve pedagojik alan bilgisi ile zenginleştirilmiş MT (matematik tarihi) dersine ve MT’nin ortaokul matematik derslerinde kullanılmasına yönelik görüşlerinin belirlenmesi amaçlamıştır. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden keşfedici durum çalışmasının kullanıldığı bu araştırmaya 25 ilköğretim matematik öğretmen adayı katılmıştır. 2017/2018 akademik yılının ilk döneminde on dört haftalık uygulama sürecinden sonra araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan 4 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığı ile veriler toplanmıştır. Elde edilen nitel verilerin analizinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Analizler neticesinde öğretmen adaylarının MT öğrenmelerinin kendilerine bilişsel, duyuşsal ve pedagojik anlamda katkısının olduğu, büyük çoğunluğunun matematik derslerinde MT’yi kullanmayı düşündükleri, MT’nin öğrencilerin öğrenmesini kolaylaştırma, motivasyon sağlama, ilgi çekme gibi pek çok yararının olduğu, dersin başı ortası veya sonunda ihtiyaç hissedildiğinde çeşitli materyaller, görsel öğeler veya etkinlikler vasıtasıyla kullanılabileceği, öğrencilerin MT’yi kullanmaya gönüllü olması gerektiği gibi öğretmenlerin de yeterli ve gerekli bilgiye sahip olup, MT’nin yararlı olacağına inanması gerektiği sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Bunun yanında zaman sorunun yaşanabileceği, öğrencilerin sıkılabileceği, konunun amacından sapabileceği gibi olumsuz görüşler de elde edilmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının öğretmenlik hayatlarında MT’nin kullanılması yönündeki bir takım olumsuz düşüncelerine çözüm bulmak amacıyla bazı önlemler alınabilir. Bunların başında öğretmen adaylarının MT ile ilgili yeterli bilgi düzeyine sahip olmalarını sağlayarak ortaokul matematik derslerinde nasıl kullanılabilecekleri, derslere nasıl entegre edebilecekleriyle ilgili deneyimler yaşatılabilir. MT’nin kullanıldığı etkinlikler veya ders planları hazırlatılarak bunlar üzerinde sınıfta tartışma ortamı oluşturulabilir. Öğretmenlerin MT’nin kullanımını zaman yetersizliğinden dolayı gereksiz görmelerini önlemek amacıyla öğrencilerin girecekleri sınavlarda MT içerikli sorular dahil edilebilir.
