İstanbul Üniversitesi, Mühendislik Fakültesi Deniz Ulaştırma İşletme Mühendisliği Bölümünden mezun olan Murat Yorulmaz, Marmara Üniversitesi Sigortacılık ABD’de Deniz Sigortaları yüksek lisans, Beykent Üniversitesi İşletme Yönetimi Anabilim Dalı ve ayrıca İstanbul Üniversitesi Deniz Ulaştırma İşletme Mühendisliği Anabilim Dalında olmak üzere iki farklı alanda doktorasını tamamlamıştır. Kocaeli Üniversitesi, Denizcilik Fakültesi Denizcilik İşletmeleri Yönetimi Bölümünde Öğretim Üyesi olarak görev yapmakta olan Dr. Kpt. Murat Yorulmaz; deniz işletmeciliği, liman işletmeciliği, gemi yönetimi, denizcilikte dijitalleşme, denizcilikte risk analizi, gemi-tersane-liman işletmelerinde iş güvenliği ve yeşil limanlar konularında akademik çalışmalar ve denizcilik işletmelerinde de danışmanlık yapmakta olup evli ve iki çocuk babasıdır.
Dr. Görkem KÖKKÜLÜNK graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Maritime Faculty, Marine Engineering Department as a BSc degree in 2009. He worked as a Marine Engineer on ships (engineer officer) at different merchant vessels between 2011-2014.
He received his MSc. degree in Yıldız Technical University, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Department, in 2012. During his master studies, he focused on “Analysis of the effects of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) on diesel engine with steam injection system to performance and emission parameters”.
He received his PhD degree in Yıldız Technical University, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Department, in 2016. During his doctorate studies he focused on “Application of performance monitoring and evaluation for two stroke marine diesel engines”. He assigned as an Assistant Prof. in 2016. He has been giving a lectures of Marine Auxiliary Machinery I-II, Marine Diesel Engines I-II, Engine Room Simulator I-II, Analysis of Ship Systems, Energy Efficiency on ships (MSc.), Advanced Topics in Marine Engines (PhD.) in Yildiz Technical University and Thermodynamics in İstanbul Technical University as a guest lecturer.
His research interests are energy efficiency applications on ships, performance monitoring and evaluation on ships, marine diesel engines, marine auxiliary machineries, energy conservation and management, alternative fuels and energy systems.
He has been a board member of Chamber of Marine Engineers since 2016 and general secretary from 2018 to 2020. Now he is working as an Associate Professor in Yıldız Technical University, Naval Architecture and Maritime Faculty.
Murat Yildiz is an Assistant Professor at Istanbul University–Cerrahpaşa, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Maritime Transportation Management Engineering, and resides in Istanbul, Turkiye. His academic work spans maritime economics, operational research, multi-criteria decision making, optimisation, ship management, fleet planning, and ship investment analysis. He is particularly interested in data-driven approaches to maritime decision-making and in the development of analytical frameworks that support strategic and operational choices in shipping.
His research engages with emerging trends in the maritime domain, including decarbonisation strategies, CII-oriented compliance analytics, maritime cybersecurity, digitalisation, and the evolving regulatory landscape governing sustainable shipping. He also follows technological developments such as autonomous vessels and advanced decision-support systems.
Dr. Yıldız teaches undergraduate courses in ship construction, maritime English, introduction to maritime transportation management engineering, seamanship, and ship chartering & brokerage. His broader academic vision is to bridge quantitative modelling with practical maritime applications, contributing to safer, cleaner, and more efficient shipping operations. He serves as the corresponding author of the present study.
Dr. UĞURLU received MS and PhD degrees from Karadeniz Technical University, Türkiye, in 2006 and 2011, respectively. He is an associate professor of the Faculty of Marine Science at Ordu University. He has completed the supervision of 14 MS and 2 PhD degrees in the areas of marine transportation engineering. He currently has two PhD students and five MS students under his supervision in the research areas of maritime safety, accident analyses, human factor, simulation modeling, and seafarers. His research findings have been published in more than 40 refereed papers in risk, safety, maritime transportation, and marine engineering, including more than 30 (SCI/SSCI-cited) journal and 30 conference papers (22 h-index, more than 1800 citations in Google Scholar).
I am Dr. Müge Büber, a maritime academic and researcher specializing in marine accidents, environmental risk assessment, and air and marine pollution dispersion modelling. I began my professional career by gaining practical experience in the maritime sector and served successfully at sea as an oceangoing watchkeeping officer. In 2016, I started working as a research assistant in the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering, Division of Ship Management.
I completed my master’s degree in Maritime Safety, Security and Environmental Management at the Institute of Social Sciences between 2015 and 2017, and my doctoral studies in the same field between 2017 and 2023. I have authored and contributed to numerous national and international scientific publications in my areas of expertise.
As part of the DOSAP Programme, I have been working as a Visiting Researcher at Dalian Maritime University for a nine-month period starting from January 2026, further developing my research in maritime safety, environmental risk analysis, and oil spill response systems.
