Investigation of Disability Regions in Wrestlers
Abstract
Objective: The
purpose of this study is to determine the regions of sports injuries that have
occurred in the wrestlers who compete in the category of stars, young people
and adults.
Method: 143
wrestlers competing in the category of stars, young people and adults
participated in the study as volunteers. A musculoskeletal system questionnaire
was used to determine the disability. For statistical evaluation, frequency and
percentage values are examined. The difference between the categories was
determined by chi-square test.
Findings: The
regions with the most injuries in wrestlers are knee (43,4%), foot-ankle (33,6%)
and shoulder (32,6%). In addition, it is observed that hand-wrist, waist, knee
and foot-ankle injuries are significantly different in frequency of injuries in
categorization of disability regions (p<0.05). As the categories increase,
the disability rate seems to increase(p<0.05).
Conclusion: The
most common disability areas in wrestlers are knee, foot-ankle and shoulder.
Additional training in these regions during training to reduce disability
incidence will reduce the frequency of injuries.
