Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORC-ID)

ORCID is a free digital identity that makes it easy for scientists to overcome name similarities, surnames, or Turkish character problems and to gather all authors' works under one roof. ORCID is a nonprofit organization helping create a world in which all who participate in research, scholarship and innovation are uniquely identified and connected to their contributions and affiliations, across disciplines, borders, and time.

The ORCID iD is an https URI with a 16-digit number that is compatible with the ISO Standard (ISO 27729), also known as the International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI), e.g. https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1634-0013.
