The Comparison of Cahit Zarifoğlu and Iranian Turkish Writer Samed Behrangî’s Children’s Books in Terms of Theme, Worldview, and Narrative Styles.
Abstract
Cahit Zarifoğlu and Samed Behrengî were born in the same year in geographically close regions and are two authors who contributed to children's literature, with Turkish as their native language. Therefore, it is natural that the themes they explore and their narrative styles show similarities. The children's books of both authors are well-known among children, parents, and academics. This study examines the similarities and differences between Cahit Zarifoğlu and the Iranian Azerbaijani writer Samed Behrengî, specifically in terms of their children's books. Within the framework of literature studies on the subject, their children's books, forty-one academic articles discussing their works, and thirty-two postgraduate theses analyzing their lives, artistic perspectives, or books have been reviewed. A qualitative research method was employed in this study. As a result of document analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods, it was determined that Samed Behrengî and Cahit Zarifoğlu share similarities in terms of the themes they address in their books, their narrative styles, and their characters. However, they differ in the way they incorporate their worldviews into their narratives. Their differences, alongside their similarities, are considered a reflection of their cultural richness as artists.
