The
social welfare of a country cannot be reduced only to the growth factor.
Besides the growth, it is the quality of the institutions of the country which
is essential. In this study, developments in the Azerbaijani economics were
examined after independence from the New Institutionalist Economics point of
view. With the help of economic and social indicators, it has been researched
how the social welfare of the Azerbaijani economy has improved. As a result of
the study, it is revealed that the Azerbaijani economy has established the
institutions necessary for social benefit, institutions provide certain
transformations for social welfare, but it is concluded that economic
development does not sufficiently improve the social benefit.
