Abstract

Health-related eating awareness and negative body perception are seen as important phenomena in terms of athletes' performance and psychological well-being levels. This study was carried out to evaluate the eating awareness characteristics and negative body talk characteristics of licensed female athletes in different sports branches. The population of the research consists of female athletes from different sports branches operating in Adıyaman province. The sample group of the research consists of 244 active female athletes participating in local and national competitions in Adıyaman province in the 2022-2023 season. "Personal Information Form", "Eating Awareness Scale" and "Negative Body Talk Scale" for the personal characteristics of female athletes were used as data collection tools in the research. As a result of the research, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between the eating awareness scale scores of the athletes participating in the research in terms of their sports age (F = 4.080, p = 0.000). As a result of the research, it was concluded that athletes should be supported with training and psychological support studies regarding the nutrition and energy needs of their sports branches.
