The Effect of Body Composition and Agility Levels of Wrestlers on Skill

Abstract

Various factors such as physical fitness and sport-related functional tests play an important role in sporting success. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between body composition, agility and skill level in wrestlers (Xage=20.00±1.79; Xheight=166.75±6.22; Xweight=71.01±6.39; Xfat percentage=8.11±2.95). Body fat percentage was assessed by Tanita Body Composition Analyser and agility was assessed by Burpee test. Skill level was measured by wrestling techniques applied rapidly in 30 seconds. The data were analysed with Pearson correlation coefficient. A negative correlation was found between body fat percentage and wrestling technique application performance (p<0.05). A positive and significant correlation was observed between agility and skill level (p<0,05). It has been shown that achieving a lower body fat percentage and higher agility level in wrestlers will significantly improve their skill performance. The study reveals how critical physical characteristics are in the effective application of wrestling techniques. Coaches can use these criteria to assess wrestlers' abilities and fitness levels.

Güreşçilerin Vücut Kompozisyonu ve Çeviklik Seviyelerinin Beceri Üzerindeki Etkisi

Abstract

Sportif başarıda, fiziksel kondisyon ve sporla ilgili fonksiyonel testler gibi çeşitli unsurlar önemli rol oynar. Bu çalışma, güreşçilerde (Xyaş=20.00±1.79; Xboy=166.75±6.22; Xağırlık=71.01±6.39; Xyağ yüzdesi=8.11±2.95) vücut kompozisyonu, çeviklik ve beceri seviyesi arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Vücut yağ yüzdesi, Tanita Body Composition Analyzer ile, çeviklik ise Burpee testi ile değerlendirildi. Beceri seviyesi ise 30 saniyede hızla uygulanan güreş teknikleri ile ölçüldü. Veriler Pearson korelasyon katsayısı ile analiz edildi. Vücut yağ yüzdesi ile güreş teknikleri uygulama performansı arasında negatif bir korelasyon bulundu (p<0,05). Çeviklik ve beceri seviyesi arasında ise pozitif ve anlamlı bir korelasyon gözlemlendi (p<0,05). Güreşçilerin daha düşük vücut yağ yüzdesine ve yüksek çeviklik seviyesine ulaşmalarının, beceri performanslarını önemli ölçüde artıracağı gösterilmiştir. Çalışma fiziksel özelliklerin, güreş tekniklerinin etkin bir şekilde uygulanmasında ne kadar kritik bir öneme sahip olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Antrenörler, güreşçilerin yeteneklerini ve kondisyon seviyelerini değerlendirmek için bu ölçütleri kullanabilirler.
