The aim of this research is to reveal administrators’ views regarding school-based management in upper secondary schools admitting students with central examination. Qualitative research method was used in this study. Personal information form, semi- structured interview form and recorder is used to collect data. Individual face to face interviewing technique was used to collect data. The data were analyzed through descriptive analysis and content analysis using the NVIVO 10 program. The participants consisted of ten administrators working at upper secondary schools accepting students with central examination in districts of Konyaaltı, Kepez, Muratpaşa, and Döşemealtı in Antalya Province. According to the results, managers have mostly emphasized “taking initiative” theme to point out the difference between school-based management and central management. On the perceptions of administrators regarding school-based management, “school's being at the center” theme was prominent. Administrators believe that preparing the school's own budget will provide the school an opportunity to meet the requirements. It was also stated that expert support would be needed during the preparation of the curriculum and textbooks. The prevalent opinion among administrators is that the school does not yet have sufficient infrastructure to employ its own staff. It has been revealed that planning and programming should be done in line with the needs of the school and the student. While school-based management is viewed positively in terms of employee productivity, belonging to the school, and student compliance, it negative in terms of political and supporters’ pressure. Decisions regarding education and training process should focus on increasing the success of students and the school. School-based management considers it important to be receptive of new ideas as well. According to the administrators, attention should be paid to merit in personnel recruitment and the opinions of the stakeholders should be included in the decision-making process.
