Abstract
Prof. Dr. Semih Yalçın has written a work on the view that it will be useful for researchers who will study in this field by classifying the written sources of Modern Turkish History. The work generally consists of a preface, seven chapters, bibliography and index. The author first prepared the reader for the work by expressing that the main subject of history is humanity and nations. What is History and how to make History; The author, who sought answers to questions such as: The author, who says that historical studies must be kept within the framework of time, space and society, enriched the work with quotations from important historians from our country and the world. He stated that history has a very important place in terms of the formation of our national culture. An evaluation has been made by establishing a connection between today's understanding of historiography and philosophy of history. It has been emphasized that it is intertwined with other social sciences and therefore works should be written together. Detailed information is given about the word origin of the concept of archive. In addition to the archives in our country, first-hand and second-hand sources have been identified. Examples of Ottoman and Republican archives are shown. Examples of newspapers and magazines are given, and a connection is made with the first emergence in the world. The author presents a wide range of memoirs from Yunus Nadi to Halide Edip Adıvar; It provides an important resource pool for researchers who will work in the field of republican history.
