Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of individuals’ leisure coping beliefs and strategies on hedonia and eudaimonia in outdoor recreational settings, from a holistic perspective. The study is based on the leisure coping beliefs and strategies model developed by Iwasaki and Mannell (2000). Within the scope of this model, survey research method was conducted using quantitative research methods. Data was collected between 7-15 June 2024 and the data obtained from 302 samples and analyzed using the least partial squares technique in the SmartPLS 4. The results of the study reveal that leisure coping beliefs positively affects hedonic well-being and leisure coping strategies positively and significantly affect the hedonic and eudaimonic well-being of individuals during the outdoor recreation process. For this reason, public institutions and organizations, universities, tourist destinations and recreation managers need to increase outdoor settings and the number of recreational activities.
