Abstract:
In Antalya, there is quite steep cliff along shore line, 17 km lenght and 30 km height. The bedrock forming these cliff is Plio-Quaternery aged travertine. There are domestic and touristic buildings on most places of travertine cliff. Under the influence of the additional weight stack of constructions, both solution waste water and natural water, chemical and phisical erosion of wave, rock falling and slumps events are enhanced. These effects have great risk for environment. The most current sample of slumps has happened at the Old Lara road, in eastern Bambus beach. At December 2001, on a part of this road, in front of Atan hotel and Deniz apartment, deep fractures and stepped failure occured. After this event, traffic is immediately stoopped and the road is closed.
