PUBERTAL BÜYÜME ATILIMI EVRELERİNİN BELİRLENMESİNDE SERVİKAL VERTEBRA MATURASYONLARININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract



Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, lateral sefalometrik rad-
yografiler üzerinden belirlenen servikal vertebraların maturasyonel safhaları
ile bireylerin kronolojik yaşları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir.



Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmamıza kronolojik yaşları 9-16
aralığında olan 45 kız ve 45 erkek toplam 90 sağlıklı birey dahil edilmiştir.
Lateral sefalometrik radyogra- filerin alındığı gün esas alınarak bireylerin ay
cinsinden yaşları hesaplanmıştır. Lateral sefalometrik radyogra- filerde
servikal vertebral büyüme atılımının değerlendi- rilmesinde Hassel-Farman
yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin istatistiksel analizleri SPSS
20.0 prog- ramı ile Spearman Rank Korelasyon Analizi, Kolmogorov-Smirnov testi
kullanılarak yapılmıştır.



Bulgular: Bireylerin
Hassel-Farman yöntemi ile belir- lenen pubertal büyüme atılımı evreleri ile ay
cinsinden kronolojik yaşları arasındaki ilişki değerlendirilmiş ve kız bireyler
açısından bu değer (ρ=0,661) “orta dere- celi korelasyon” gösterirken erkek
bireyler açısından ise bu değer (ρ=0,559) yine “orta dereceli korelasyon”
göstermiştir.



Sonuç: Servikal vertebraların maturasyonel aşama- larının
değerlendirilmesi ile belirlenen pubertal atılım evreleri ile kronolojik yaş
arasında hem kızlarda hem de erkeklerde orta derecede korelasyon olduğu belir- lenmiş
ve sonuç olarak bu metodun ortodontik açıdan iskeletsel maturasyonun
değerlendirilmesinde el-bilek radyografisi elde edilemeyen durumlarda
alternatif bir metot olabileceği düşünülmüştür.

CERVICAL VERTEBRA MATURATION IN THE DETERMINATION OF PUBERTAL GROWTH SPURT
PHASES



ABSTRACT



Aim:  The aim of
this study is to examine the relationship between the maturational phases of
cervical vertebrae determined by lateral cephalometric radiographs and
chronological ages of the individuals.




Materials
and Methods
: This study comprised a
total of 90 healthy individuals, 45 girls and 45 boys, with chronological ages
ranging between 9-16. The age of the each individual were calculated in months
at the time when the lateral cephalometric radiographs were taken. The
Hassel-Farman method was used for the evaluation of pubertal growth spurt
utlizing cervical vertebrae images in lateral cephalometric radiographs.
Statistical analyzes of the data were performed using Spearman rank correlation
analysis, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test with SPSS 20.0 program.



Results: The relation between the phases of the pubertal growth
spurt in the individuals determined by Hassel-Farman method and their
chronological ages by months is evaluated and it was found that they were moderately
correlated in both females and males with the value of (p=0,661) and (p=0,559)
consecutively.



Conclusion: It has been determined that there is a moderate
correlation between chronological age and the developmental growth stages
determined cervical vertebrae maturation both in females and males. Therefore
this method may considered to be a suitable method that can be used in the
identification and evulation of the growth and developmental stage in terms of
orthodontics.
