Abstract

Özet: Çalışmada önce, kavramsal açıdMl ele alınan egitimin iktisadi
gelişme üzerindeki etkileri ve katkıları incelenmiştir. Türk eğitim sistemi
içerisinde yükseköğretimin yeri belirlenerek, Atatürk Üniversitesi'nin 43
yıllık tarihsel evrimi verilmiştir. Üniversitesi'nin mevcut altyapısı
(akademik birimleri, ögretim ve idari personel kadrosu, bilgi kaynagı,
yayınları, kültürel ve sanatsal faaliyetleri, sağlık hizmetleri ve üretim
faaliyetleri) dikkate alınarak, Erzurum'un ekonomik ve sosyal yaşantısına
katkıları tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, özeııikle eğitim ve
öğretim açısından perfonnansı anlatılan üniversitenin istihdam, sağlık
hizmetleri, personelin ve öğrencilerin harcamaları bakımından
Erzurum'un sosyo-ekonomik yapısındaki yeri ve önemi verilmeye
çalışılmıştır

present physical and human infrastructure, that is, aeademic unils, teaching and
adıninİsıralive staff. sources of knowledge, publications, cu1tural and artistic
activities, medical services and producıion activities, into consideration. its
conlribution to Erzurum's social and econoınic life is tried ıo det.ermine. Together
with its performance from educational point of view. the university's importance
in Erzurum's economic and social structure in respect to employment, health
services. staff and personnel expenditures are especially discussed.
