Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesindeki İntiharların İncelenmesi: Batman İli Örneği / The Investigation of Suicides in the South Eastern Anatolia: The Batman City Example

Abstract

Özet: İntiharlar farklı sıklıklarla da olsa bütün toplumlarda görülen ve toplumları derinden

etkileyen bir problemdir. İntihar, bireyin kendisini planlı ve kasıtlı olarak öldürmeye çalışmasıdır.

Dünyada ortalama her yüz bin kişide 15 kişi intihar etmektedir. Yıllık yaklaşık 3 bin kişinin intihar

ettiği Türkiye’de bu oran her yüz bin kişide 3 kişi civarındadır. Güneydoğu Anadolu illerinde yaşanan

intiharlar özellikleri ile Türkiye’nin genelinden ayrılmaktadır. Bölgenin kendi dinamiklerinin

etkisi ile hem intihar daha fazla yaşanmakta hem de Türkiye genelinin aksine kadınlar daha fazla

intihar etmektedir. Bu araştırmada Batman ilindeki meydana gelmiş 18 intihara teşebbüs vakası

intihar teşebbüs olaylarının öncesi ve sonrasında yaşananlarla beraber kalitatif (nitel) yöntemler

kullanılarak derinlemesine incelenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre 15-25 yaş grubunda, ortalama

kardeş sayısı 10 olan, ekonomik durumu düşük ve çoğunlukla kadınlar daha çok hap içmek yöntemini

kullanarak intihara teşebbüs etmişlerdir. İntihara teşebbüs nedenleri olarak Türkiye’nin geri

kalanında olduğu gibi yalnızlık hissi ve sosyal bağların zayıflaması nedenleri ön plana çıkmaktadır.

Medyada sansasyonel olarak çoklukla bahsedilen töre, gelenek-görenek, aşiret ve aile baskısı ve

kız-erkek arkadaş problemleri öncelikli sebepler olarak görünmemektedir.

Abstract: As a serious social problem, suicides have been seen in every society in different

frequencies. Suicide is defined as an individual’s deliberate killing attempt of himself or herself.

Approximately 15 individuals in every 100 thousands commit suicides in the world. In Turkey, 3

individuals in every 100 thousands commit suicides and suicides are the death reason for 3 thousands

individuals in a year. The dynamics of suicides in the South Eastern Anatolia do not resemble to the

general suicides dynamics of Turkey. In this region, the frequency of suicides is higher than the

other regions and suicides and suicides attempts of women are particularly higher than men. This

qualitative research study investigated 18 suicides attempt cases and their reasons and results in the

Batman City in the region. The findings showed that women from the age group of 15-25, averagely

having 10 siblings, and having financial difficulties attempt to commit suicides. The common way of

suicides attempt was taking medicines in different types. The main reasons for suicides attempts were

the feeling of loneliness and weak social liaisons of the participants, which are also main suicides

attempt reasons in the general of Turkey. On the contrary the common belief about the reasons of

suicides in the region, which is particularly supported by Media, the findings showed that customs,

traditions, pressure from clans and parents, and problems related to boyfriend or girlfriend have

small amount of effect on suicide attempts in the region.
