Arazide 45 cm
derinliğe erişineeye değin her 5 cm lik katmandan örnekler alınmış ve
bunların su içerikleri belirlenmiştir. Sulamadan 1,2,3 ve 6 gün (T) sonra
üst 45 cm lik toprak katmanının içermiş olduğu toplam su kalınlığı
(W) değerlerinden yararlanılarak, W= A.T
B eşitliğindeki parametreler
(A ve B}stıptanmıştır. Çiftlik tmmda A= 13,2 ve B= -0,153 ve Dadaş
siltli kilinde A-== 18,5 ve B= ·0,023 bulunmuştur. Bu parametreler yardımıyla,
adı geçen toprakların üst 45 cm lik kesiminde ve sulamadem
sOflra geçen ilk 6 gun içerisinde katrnamn toplam .çu içeriğinin )'e su!a~
madan sonra geçen sürenin bir işlevi olarak drenaj hızını veren denklemler
elde edilmiştir.
SUMMARY
An lnvestigation on Water Content Changes of Soil Following Irrigation
This study was eonducted on
Atatürk University Farm, 'in Erzurum,
Turkey. The test plots were locate<!
on Çiftlik loam and Dadaş silty clay.
In field pIots the water table was öeep
enough to. be ignored.
The purpose of thi.s experiment
is 10 investigate thewater content
changes in soils after irrigation. An'
a:ttem'pt ~as also made 10 esti.male the
drainage rates [rom a wetted de~th
of soil as a function of total' water
çontained in that depth and time after
irrigation.
Prior to basin irrigation, the plants'
on the soiI were removed· without
disturbing the soi! surface -and then
irrigation water was appIied. After entry
of water int0 the soi1, the soil surfiice
was covered with a sheet of polyethylene
to prevent evaporation. The first
soil sampks were taken following the
disappearance of the irrigation water
into the soil. The others were taken, 1,
2,3 and 6 days after irrigation. The soH

samples were taken at 5 cm deptn interyals
down to 45 cm. The water Content
was deteroıined by drying at 105
C. The water content of e~ch 5 cm soil
layer was expressed in' terms of the
surface d-epth of water. The surface
deptb of water for soil depth of 45
cm was obtained-by taking the sum of
the surface deptbs of water in the constituent
5 cm sdl layers.
TQe constants (A and -B) in equation,
W= A. TB, were evaluated for
the upper 45 cm of each soH f'rom
water eontenl (W): time (T) data
obtained - at zero evapotranspiration
rate. The measured water content 1 day
after irrigation was used as the .initial
value of W. The equatioris obtained
for each soil was differentiated with
respect to time to get the dr~inage rate.
