Atlas Journal of Medicine is the official publication of Atlas University and is published every four months, and a volume is completed with three issues in February, June and October. The journal aims to publish current, qualified and original studies related to the entire field of medicine.
Applications uploaded to the journal page are subject to preliminary evaluation by the journal editor or a field editor designated by the journal editor. During the pre-evaluation process, articles that are deemed appropriate are put into the evaluation phase, while articles that do not comply with the publication conditions may be sent back to the responsible author for correction, edited in format, or rejected. During the evaluation phase, the editor or field editor sends the manuscript to the consultants (reviewers) he/she deems appropriate for review. The reviewer process is carried out on a double-blind basis. When necessary, the responsible author may be asked to make corrections/edits in line with the opinions of the reviewers and editors. Requesting corrections from the author does not mean that the article will be published. These corrections must be completed and sent to the journal within 21 days at the latest. The corresponding author is informed whether the manuscript has been accepted or rejected.
Whether or not they are accepted for publication in the journal, files uploaded to the system are archived.
Open Access and Article Processing
Atlas Journal of Medicine provides open access to scientific publications. After determining the DOI number, the electronically published issue and the full texts of the articles in its content can be accessed free of charge.
No fee is charged from the author(s) for the publication of their articles.
Readers may download the journal content free of charge for academic or educational use. The magazine is free to everyone, at any time.

Atlas Journal of Medicine allows articles to be shared in accordance with the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license. Accordingly, writers and readers; They may copy and reproduce the works provided that they comply with the conditions of citing appropriately, not using the material for commercial purposes, and informing them if changes have been made. No copyright is paid for articles published in the journal.
Written Language of the Journal
The written languages of the journal are Turkish and English. Articles written in Turkish are included with English "abstract" and "keywords", and articles written in English appear with Turkish "abstract" and "keywords". “Turkish abstract” and “Abstract” sections should be included as literal translations. Manuscripts written in English must be checked for spelling and grammar. Manuscripts deemed linguistically inadequate will not be evaluated.
Authorship Criteria
When uploading the article to the journal page, the Copyright Transfer Form, Author Contribution Form and Conflict of Interest Form must be filled in and signed by the corresponding author.
Atlas Journal of Medicine as agreed to implement the standards of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.
Ethical Responsibility
Atlas Journal of Medicine publishes articles that comply with ethical and scientific standards. The ethical, scientific and legal responsibility of the articles published in the journal belongs to the author(s) and do not reflect the opinions of the editor and editorial board members.
Ethics Committee Approval must be obtained for all prospective and necessary retrospective studies, including studies with experimental animals, and the date (day-month-year) of the Ethics Committee Approval along with the number of the Ethics Committee Approval must be stated in the "Material and Method" section of the manuscript. Since, in accordance with ethical and legal rules, in all articles where the privacy of the patient is required to be protected, identifying information and photographs of the patients cannot be printed without the written informed consent of the patient (or his legal guardian), the sentence "A written consent document has been received from the patient (or his legal guardian) stating that his medical data can be published" It must be stated in the "Materials and Methods" section (at the end of the Introduction section in articles without a Materials and Methods section). In studies conducted on animals, committee approval indicating compliance with international ethical rules must be obtained from the relevant animal ethics committee.
Manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal must not have been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Studies previously presented at congresses must be stated in the Cover Letter sent to the Editor. If the article includes some of the topics in a previously published article of the author(s), this should be stated in the Cover Letter and a copy of the previous article should be uploaded to the journal page along with the new application files.
The names of people, institutions or organizations that do not meet the authorship criteria but contributed to the study can be included in the "Acknowledgments" section.
Conflict of interest: Authors are responsible for disclosing all personal and financial relationships that may be relevant to their work. Commercial products, medicines, companies, etc. used in the presence of an institution(s) that provide financial support for commercial connections or work. What kind of relationship you have with or whether you have any conflict of interest should be filled in the Conflict of Interest Form and uploaded to the system, and it should be stated in the text under the heading Conflict of Interest Declaration in the "Declarations" section.
Plagiarism screening: Atlas University Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences does not allow any plagiarism. For this reason, all articles sent to the journal are scanned via iThenticate by the journal administrator, and the similarity report is uploaded to the system so that the authors can also see it. Acceptable similarity rate is less than 20%. Manuscripts that are more similar than the specified ratio are returned to the author without being evaluated.
Manuscript Types
Manuscripts should be submitted electronically by logging into the system at https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/journal/3968/submission/step/manuscript/new
Information regarding the sections required for each manuscript type is provided under the heading “Preparation of the Manuscript.”
Research Articles are original studies containing new information on current topics. These may include randomized controlled studies, observational studies, descriptive studies, diagnostic or therapeutic validation studies, clinical studies, experimental studies, or animal studies. The main text must not exceed 2,500 words, excluding references, Turkish and English abstracts, and table/figure legends.
Review Articles are comprehensive evaluations of selected topics in medicine, written by authors with recognized expertise in the field. Review articles are also subject to peer review. The text must not exceed 4,000 words, excluding references and table/figure legends. Reviews are limited to five authors and 40 references.
Case Reports should present a novel finding, a rare or interesting case or condition, or an approach related to diagnosis or treatment that may be of interest to readers. Case reports are limited to five authors, 1,000 words excluding references, and 10 references. They may be supported by only one table or one figure.
Letters to the Editor may address published articles or professional issues. They should not exceed 500 words and may include up to five references and one table or one figure. Authors are also given the right to reply to letters concerning articles previously published in the journal.
All manuscripts submitted to the Atlas University Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences must be prepared in accordance with the following rules.
General Format
· The manuscript must be typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font.
· Page margins must be 2.5 cm on all sides.
· Pages must be numbered consecutively beginning with the title page, with page numbers placed in the lower right corner, and continuous line numbering must be added (Microsoft Office Word™ – Layout – Line Numbers – Continuous)
· Abbreviations should be written out in full at first mention, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses, and the same abbreviation should be used consistently throughout the text. Abbreviations should be avoided in the title and abstract, and unnecessary abbreviations should be avoided in the main text. Sentences should not begin with abbreviations.
· All units of measurement must conform to the metric system (SI units), for example: mg/kg, µg/kg, mL/min, µL/h, mmHg, etc. Measurements and statistical data should be expressed in numerals unless they occur at the beginning of a sentence.
· Statistical methods, where applicable, must be specified in the Materials and Methods section.
· Numbers smaller than 10 that do not express a unit, and numbers appearing at the beginning of a sentence, should be written in words. Decimal numbers should be separated from whole numbers by a comma in Turkish texts and by a period in English texts.
· The manuscript must be organized according to the sections defined for the relevant manuscript type.
Cover Letter
A cover letter addressed to the Editor must be submitted. It should include the title of the manuscript, the manuscript type, a brief statement explaining why the manuscript is suitable for publication in the Atlas University Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences, and identification of the corresponding author. The full names of all authors, their ORCID IDs, institutional affiliations, and contact details (telephone number, e-mail address, and postal address) must also be provided.
The cover letter must include a written statement confirming that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The Atlas University Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences does not accept manuscripts that have been previously published, accepted for publication, or are under review elsewhere, even in another language. If the manuscript contains material that overlaps in part with the authors’ previously published work, this must also be stated in the cover letter.
If the manuscript has previously been presented at a scientific meeting as an oral or poster presentation, this must be indicated in the cover letter, including the name, date, and location of the meeting. The same information must also be added as a note at the end of the abstract.
Abstract
The manuscript must include both a Turkish abstract (Öz) and an English abstract (Abstract).
For Research Articles, the abstract must be structured under the headings Aim, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusion, and must not exceed 250 words.
For Review Articles, the abstract must be unstructured and must not exceed 250 words.
The abstract should clearly state the aim of the study, the procedures performed, the observational and analytical methods used, the principal findings, and the main conclusions. Reference numbers and abbreviations must not be used in the abstract.
For Case Reports, the abstract must be unstructured and must not exceed 200 words. Letters to the Editor do not require an abstract.
Main Manuscript
The main manuscript file uploaded to the system in Microsoft Office Word™ format must not include the names of the authors or their institutional affiliations.
The manuscript should be organized according to the relevant article type as follows:
Research Articles, Systematic Reviews, and Meta-Analyses should include: Turkish title, Turkish abstract (structured: aim, materials and methods, results, conclusion), and Turkish keywords, English title, English abstract (structured: aim, materials and methods, results, conclusion), and English keywords.
The main text must include the following sections:
Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion
In addition, the manuscript must include statements on:
Conflict of Interest, Financial Disclosure, Author Contributions, and Ethics Committee Approval
An Acknowledgments section may be added when necessary.

The manuscript must also include statements on: Conflict of Interest, Financial Disclosure, Author Contributions, and Ethics Committee Approval
An Acknowledgments section may be added when necessary.
At the end of the manuscript, the following must be included: References, tables (if any) with titles and explanations, and figure legends
Letter to the Editor should include: Turkish title, English title
The text should be brief and directly focused on the subject. Relevant references may be cited where necessary.
The manuscript must include statements on: Conflict of Interest, Financial Disclosure, and Author Contributions
References must be listed at the end of the manuscript. Tables or figures may be used when necessary, and their titles and explanatory notes must also be provided at the end of the text.
Keywords
At the end of the abstract, under the heading Keywords, authors must provide at least three and no more than five keywords reflecting the main topics of the manuscript and compatible with Index Medicus Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). Care should also be taken to select Turkish keywords from the Türkiye Bilim Terimleri (www.bilimterimleri.com) database.
References
The Vancouver style must be used for both in-text citations and the reference list.
References must be numbered in the order in which they first appear in the text, table footnotes, and figure legends. In the text, citation numbers should be given in Arabic numerals in parentheses, placed immediately after the relevant statement or at the end of the sentence, before the period.
When citing multiple references, numbers should be separated by a comma and a space. When more than two consecutive references are cited, the first and last reference numbers should be connected by a hyphen (for example: (2, 5, 7), (3-7)).
In the reference list, the volume and issue number of the cited journal must be stated. When page numbers are given, only the changing digits of the ending page should be written (for example: 45-8 instead of 45-48; 219-22 instead of 219-222).
References must be written in the original language of the cited source and formatted as shown in the following examples:

Tables
Tables should supplement the text and should not duplicate information already presented in the manuscript. They must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals according to the order in which they are cited in the text (for example: Table 1). A short, explanatory title should be placed above each table. Any abbreviations used in the table must be explained immediately below the table.
Figures
All drawings, photographs, graphs, and illustrations must be referred to as Figures. Each figure must be uploaded as a separate file (such as .jpg, .png, .tif, etc.) with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Figure files must be of high resolution and good quality. Figures must be numbered in the order in which they are cited in the text, using Arabic numerals in parentheses (for example: Figure 1).
Figure Legends
Figure legends must be written double-spaced and numbered with the corresponding Arabic numerals. If symbols, arrows, or letters are used to indicate specific parts of the figure, these must be explained in the legend. If figures previously published elsewhere are used, the author must obtain the necessary permission, document this permission, and state it in the figure legend.

Revisions
When submitting a revised manuscript, authors must clearly mark all changes made in the main text. In addition, they must upload a separate Response to Reviewers file containing their replies to the reviewers’ comments.
In this file, each reviewer comment should be followed by the author’s response, and the location of the corresponding revision in the manuscript should be clearly indicated.
Revised manuscripts must be submitted to the journal within 21 days of the decision letter.
