Abstract
Considering as a new phase in the use of Internet in open and distance education Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) andopen education are the two main focus of this book edited by Curtis J. Bonk, Mimi Miyoung Lee, Thomas C. Reeves veThomas H. Reynolds. This 356-page reference book consists of eight main sections and 29 chapters. Past, present and the futureof MOOCs are discussed in the light of the notion of globalization lies in the nature of open education throughout this bookprepared with the support and experiences of various organizations from world's different countries. Vision of well-structuredMOOCs without compromising openness in education, design and andragogy/pedagogy have potantial to prevent thetransformation of the reachnes of ICTs to a complexity and disorder is the central theme of the Book. At the end of this review,some suggestions in accordance with opinions from the Book were also presented for universities that use MOOCs within thescope of open and distance education

İnternet’in açık ve uzaktan öğretimde kullanılmasında yeni bir aşama olarak değerlendirilen Kitlesel Açık Çevrimiçi Dersler (Massive Open Online Course-MOOC) ve yaygın anlamıyla açık öğretim, editörlüğünü Curtis J. Bonk, Mimi Miyoung Lee, Thomas C. Reeves ve Thomas H. Reynolds’ın yaptığı bu kitabın iki temel odağını oluşturmaktadır. 356 sayfalık bu başvuru kaynağı sekiz ana bölüm ve 29 alt bölümden oluşmaktadır. Dünyanın farklı ülkelerinden çeşitli kuruluşların deneyimleri ve katkılarıyla hazırlanan bu kitapta açık öğretimin doğasında yatan küresellik nosyonu ışığında MOOC’ların dünü, bugünü ve geleceği ele alınmıştır. Eğitimde açıklık, tasarım ve androgoji/pedagojiden ödün vermeden iyi yapılandırılmış MOOC’ların ICT’lerin sunduğu zenginliklerin karmaşıklık ve düzensizliğe dönüşmesini engelleyebileceği görüşü kitabın ana temasını oluşturmaktadır. Bu incelemenin sonunda, kitaptan edinilen görüşler doğrultusunda açık ve uzaktan öğretim kapsamında MOOC geliştiren üniversitelere bazı öneriler de sunulmuştur.
