Çağdaş Yetişkin Eğitimi Liderlerinden Eduard Christian Lindeman (1885-1953) Yaşamı, Eğitim Görüşü ve Hizmetleri

Abstract

Bu makale yetişkin eğitimi alanındaki öncülerden Eduard Christian Lindeman’ın yaşamı, alana ilişkin hizmetleri ve onun eğitim görüşlerini betimlemeye çalışmıştır. Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nde yetişkin eğitiminin en önemli filozofu olduğu düşünülen Lindeman’ın yetişkin eğitimcisi olmasında onun, olgun bir öğrenci olarak eğitime geri döndüğü 21 yaşına kadar çalıştığı işlerin etkisi görülmektedir. Lindeman’a göre eğitim hayattır ve bütün hayat öğrenmedir. Halk eğitiminde otoriter,baskıcı öğretimin yaratıcı düşünceye engel olan sınavların,katı pedagojik formüllerin yeri yoktur. Halk eğitiminin, öğrencilere tecrübeyi anlamlı kılan bir süreç olduğunu belirten Lindeman’ın düşünceleri yetişkin eğitimi uygulamalarını ve yetişkin eğitimcilerini derinden etkilemiştir. 1983 yılında kurulan “Lindeman Merkezi “ aracılığıyla düşünceleri bu gün de etkilemeye devam etmektedir

Eduard Cristian Lindeman: One of the Leaders on Modern Adult Education (1885-1953) “Lindeman’s life, Contributions and Views

Abstract

This article tries to describe the life, services in the field of adult education and views on education of Eduard Christian Lindeman who is one of the pioneers in the field of adult education. Considered to be most important philosopher of adult education in the USA, Lindeman’s being an adult educator seems to have been affectedby the laboring jobs he took until the age of 21 when he resumed formal schooling as a mature student. Acording to Lindeman education is life and the whole of life is learning. In adult education, there is no room for authoritative oppressive teaching for examinations that preclude creative thinking and for rigid pedagogical formulas. Maintaining that adult education is a process reudering experience meaningful for students. Lindeman’s ideas have deeply influenced adult education applications and adult educators. His ideas continue to influence thoughts today through the Lindeman Center which was established in 1983.
