The Interactions Of International Geographic Diversification Degrees, External and Internal Factors and Firm Performance: A Research On Bist Companies (2009-2014)
Abstract
In this research, the
internal and external factors that affect the firms implementing geographic
diversification strategy is analyzed. International geographical diversification degree
on the performance of the company has been identified as the primary scope of
the research and the impact of firm’s internal factors and influences of host
country’s external factors on firms total abroad sales has been determined. For
this purpose; the performance values, diversivication degree and influences of attractive
external factors about their country prefecence as geographic of the 40
companies registered to BİST has been examined. According to the data obtained, it is
determined that variables of the degree of unrelated geographic
diversification, capital intensity, employee productivity, innovation intensity
and market penetration have generally significant effect on firm performance.
It is also determined that the level of openness of the countries and distance
from the external factors have significant effects on total sales. Suggestions
for future research have been made.
